About Statera Psychology

My name is Monica and I started Statera Psychology in response to the climate in our society where people often struggle with finding balance. And that is exactly what the word statera means in Latin.

Whether it is balance in the day-to-day or on a larger scale, I am coaching my clients towards living a meaningful and balanced life, helping them to draw boundaries and create healthy habits while setting and reaching goals that are in accordance with their values and priorities.

I hold two Master’s degrees, one in psychology from Charles University in the Czech Republic and the other in clinical psychology from Leiden University in the Netherlands. As my educational background lies in clinical psychology and therapy,
I like to incorporate therapeutic techniques when coaching clients, especially techniques that are grounded in the CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and the ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) framework.



My personal story:

I was born in the US to Czech immigrants who then raised me in the Czech Republic. Throughout my life, I have been lucky enough to live, study and work in different cultures and countries such as Mexico, France, Italy or Sri Lanka. These days I reside in The Netherlands where I also teach yoga next to my psychology practice.

Being an expat many times myself, I had to overcome a fair share of struggles to feel grounded, connected, and to find balance and a sense of direction in my life. I have also learned how to live with an ADHD diagnosis and therefore can relate to challenges with goal-directed persistence which helps me understand my clients’ experience.

Next to coaching and therapy, I have gained experience in recruitment, crisis intervention, and in cognitive and performance psychology research. My interests ultimately pointed me in the direction of coaching where I can intergrate and apply my knowledge and experience from all the above when helping clients.
